The course will analyze how advanced countries verify the rules of origin and what specific verification procedures they have. The course is aimed at helping having a better understanding of the rules of origin and their verifications from various countries and responding to the rules of origin. And we will analyze actual successful case studies of Korean export companies making use of FTAs at the commerce frontline and classify and apply them by type. The purpose of the course lies in developing FTA business models and specific measures Korean small and medium businesses can actually apply in the field.

FTA refers to a treat between two or more countries to establish a free trade area where commerce in goods and services can be conducted across their common borders, without tariffs or hindrance. Over 70% of South Korea's economy depends on export and this requires more active actions of dealing with FTAs; both in terms of the present and the future. This program aims to deliver basic understandings of FTA to students as well as studying the likely effects of FTAs on businesses from a logistics perspective and what can be prepared in dealing with such effects. Field trips to Incheon International Airport and Pyeongtaek Harbor will also be accompanied.

This seminar course aims to make students identify risk in doing foreign trade or foreign direct investment and manage those risk in reasonable ways, helping them understand meaning of globalization and risk management in proactive manner. For the sake of this, they are to learn a general process of international trade and foreign direct investment, their step-by-step risk involved in theory and actual cases in reality. Furthermore, students learn how to do research on those risk from ex-ante or ex-post perspectives. Generally speaking, process of export or import includes market survey, contract, procurement, shipping, payment, delivery and consumption, which brings credit risk, political risk, performance risk, shipping risk, payment risk, insurance risk, product liability risk, arbitration risk and so forth, On the other hand, foreign direct investment is composed of strategic risk, operation risk, financial risk and insurance risk which can be divided into further details. There are some ethical stands that govern international companies's behavior such as UN global compact and OECD multinational company guideline. This seminar course encompasses cases of fraud, disputes, insurance, legal cases in domestic or international arena. The course adopts such learning methods as lecture, discussion or presentation for three hour meeting per week. All the course material are uploaded or dowonloaded at the icampus.

According to the globalization for parts procurement and purchasing, production, storage and logistics, transportation, sale, and distribution of business activities, the lead time on supply chain is much longer and became uncertain. Thus we need the strategy considering parts procurement costs, labor costs, financial costs, productivity, transportation, and logistics costs, such as regional variation by country, taniffs and currency exchange rates, import and export laws and regulations of the country-specific differences, the difference between Local Product specifications, complex logistics, etc. Therefore, this lecture suggest to theoretical knowledge for the global logistics network.

Therefore, it is necessary to learn about commercial arbitration as a way to solve this problem. It also learns how to write contracts for the use of arbitration, review arbitration rules of major international arbitration institutions, and the relationship between arbitration procedures and arbitration execution issues and lawsuits.

The understanding of international maritime transport is necessary to understand international logistics, supply management and value chain from the global perspective since this plays a highly important role in the global economy. Accordingly, this lecture thoroughly explains the main characteristics of ship-building firms, shipping firms and consignors, which the key actors in the international maritime transport, and their relationships to understand the comprehensive mechanism of shipping markets. Specifically, the market structures of international maritime transport are analyzed by dividing into two categories; regular and irregular liners. Additionally, the current status of international maritime shipping market is analyzed by regional groups; Europe, Northeast Asia and Americas. Lastly, the future direction of international maritime transport industry development, which has been dramatically changed following the guidelines on the environment-friendly operations of ships by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is predicted based on the analysis on the change of the markets.
