The purpose of this course is to review mathematical methods that will be encountered during a typical masters degree program in statistics and teach some basic computing skills using R.
STA5012 Nonparametric Statistics 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Korean Yes
This course provides the statistical methods requiring relatively mild assumptions about the form of the population distribution. It covers tests based on sample distribution function, rank tests for location, scale and independence ; local properties of rank tests; Chi-square tests and other goodness-of-fit tests. Hypothesis testing, asymptotic efficiency of tests; point and interval estimation and multiple comparison procedures for a variety of statistical problems are considered.
STA5014 Survival Analysis 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 - No
The objective is to present basic material necessary for an understanding of the theory of analysis of failure time data as it applies to randomly right censored data. Emphasis is on biostatistical applications of survival analysis techniques. It covers survival distribution and hazard rate; Kaplan-Meier estimator for survival distribution and Greenwood's formula; log-rank tests; regression models, including accelerated failure time and proportional hazards; partial likelihood; diagnostics.
