The course integrates theoretical models and empirical studies.The course presumes that students have a familiarity with micro theory, basic game theory and some econometrics.

The aim of this course is to put industrial organization theory into a practical context, to analyse policy issues arising in industrial economics, and to develop an understanding of policymaking in this area. In addition, the objectives of the module are to analyse industrial policy-making in a variety of industrial economies, covering the regulation of firms and markets and associated empirical material. This analysis covers the broad area of competition and regulation policy. By the end of the course students should have gained a good understanding of the applications of industrial economics to real world issues.

This course covers data collection, processing, and analysis methods that are widely used throughout social sciences, especially in economics. The goal is to introduce various types of data, including big data, and analytical methods based on topics and examples in the fields of labor economics, public economics, urban economics, industrial organization, and health economics, and to help students improve analytical skills to use them in academic research. To this end, we address programming languages such as R and Python and how to use statistical packages specialized in data cleaning and statistical analysis such as Stata, perform empirical analyses on various cases. The data analysis techniques students learn from this course can be widely used not only when writing academic papers that include empirical analysis during graduate courses, but also when managing and analyzing data at various institutions after graduation.
