ECO4005 Computational Economics 3 8 Major Bachelor/Master 1-2 Korean Yes
In modern economics and finance, models have become increasingly more sophisticated. The luxury of working with analytically tractable models often come at the cost of restrictive assumptions. In order to explore new insights and generalize beyond analytical models, numerical analyses is typically needed. Demand for students well-equipped with skills in computational analysis is also on the rise in the global marketplace. In this course we introduce economics and finance students to the basics of numerical analysis and methods. Equal emphasis is placed on the underlying theories of numerical analysis and on the resulting practical computational methods. To illustrate the applicability of these methods, we will cover a reasonably wide range of examples from economics and finance.

ECO4006 Econometrics Ι 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master 1-4 Korean Yes
This course is intended to provide a basic knowledge of econometric theory relevant for carrying out empirical works in economics. Course starts by reviewing some concepts of linear algebra, probability theories, and statistical theories. It proceeds to classical linear model and its asymptotic theory, inferences. Estimation and testing methods based on least squares, weighted least squares, maximum likelihood, instrumental variables will be discussed.

ECO4007 Empirical Strategies in Applied Microeconomics 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master 1-4 Korean Yes
This course introduces students to a range of empirical identification strategies used to evaluate impacts of policy interventions in applied microeconomics. The goal of this course is three fold, to enable students (1) to understand commonly used empirical strategies and econometric techniques on impact evaluation and policy analysis, such as instrumental variables estimation, difference in differences, panel data methods, matching estimators, and regression discontinuity design; (2) to assess the appropriateness of different techniques for applied microeconomic examples, particularly in development economics, urban and regional economics; and (3) to familiarize with how to use STATA to conduct empirical work using these techniques.
