Both Schools of Economics and Global Economics have established research program titled as “Samsung Investment Management Internship” at some point during their school years. Then, it was all hands on deck to evaluate this. At 3pm on June 1st (Friday), its final presentation and commencement took place at Samsung C&T Corporation in Seocho to appreciate students’ academic achievements in International Corporate Finance.
Professor Young-Ju Nielsen was the subject’s instructor. 9 undergraduate students from both departments were divided into three teams to compete throughout the internship. With guidelines of 6 advisors, they embarked on researching on investment management in regard to its drawback and possible solution. The circle of company executives from Samsung Investment Management, including its research center manager, participated, but the students came up with more reasonable results through their back tests according to marketing strategies provided. They were also able to specify a severance package based upon the investment model as this model can stabilize payment methods out of immunization and non-immunized asset. They managed to debrief with the event participants about how a PFMS-based cash management can work to increase mindshare of consumers in the market.
In this commencement, Professor Min-Seong Kim, Dean of Economics, and Professor Young-Ju Nielson, academic advisor, came to congratulate on their academic accomplishments along with their sincere words of encouragement.
