Undergraduate researchers, Ah-Hyun Kim and Won-Hee You, Published Papers in Q1 SSCI Journal

Undergraduate students Ah-Hyun Kim and Won-Hee You from the Department of Economics have each published papers in the Borsa Istanbul Review, a top-tier (Q1) SSCI journal in the Business/Finance field, published by Elsevier (Impact Factor = 5.2). 

A. Kim's paper, "Evolving roles of energy futures markets: A Survey," provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research topics related to energy-related derivative financial products. This paper was co-authored with Robert I. Webb, an eminent research professor at the University of Virginia and senior research fellow at the Sungkyun Institute of Economic Research(SIER). 

W. You's paper, "ESG activities and financial stability: The case of Korean financial firms," uses panel analysis to confirm that ESG activities of financial institutions have a positive impact on the stability of domestic companies.

Both students are participating as undergraduate researchers at the Global Finance Research Center of the Sungkyunkwan University’s Institute of Economic Research (Director: Doo-Jin Ryu). They are also enrolled in Professor Ryu's team research credit program and WAVE class. W. You expressed his joy, saying, "I am delighted that my first paper has been published in an SSCI journal. I am currently conducting follow-up research on corporate social responsibility (CSR) under the guidance of Professor Ryu and co-authoring with Professor Jens Müller-Merbach, a visiting research scholar at the Sungkyun Institute of Economic Research. I hope to present this research at an internationally renowned academic conference."

A. Kim remarked, "I have heard that it is rare for a survey paper to be published in an SSCI journal. Through acquiring research methodologies accumulated at the Institute of Economic Research and conducting extensive bibliometric analysis, I was able to publish my paper. I am currently engaged in follow-up research using machine learning with Alexander Webb, a doctoral student at the University of Wollongong, as part of Professor Ryu's WAVE class. I plan to present our research findings during visits to Australia and the United States through this program."
