BK21 Education Research Center of College of Economics holds the 1st KWEN(Korean Women Economists Network) Summer Workshop
BK21 Education Research Center of the College of Economics (Director: Sunghyun Kim, Dean of College of Economics) held the first KWEN Summer Workshop on June 14th (Tue) at Dasan Hall of Economics. The Korean Women Economists Network (KWEN) is a group of overseas Korean female economists, created in 2018 for academic exchange and networking of Korean female economics professors working at universities or research institutes in Korea and abroad.
At the Seoul meeting, many female economists including Prof. Yoosoon Chang (Indiana Univ.), Dr. Jihee Hong (IMF), Prof. Soojin Kim (Georgia State Univ), Prof. Soojin Jo (Yonsei Univ), and Prof. Suryun Lee (Chung-Ang Univ) presented their papers and had discussions about them. Also, there were mentoring sessions on studying abroad or getting jobs at foreign universities for female students who are attending graduate schools of economics or currently studying abroad.
The participants said they had a satisfactory time sharing useful information and various experiences as women studying abroad or studying economics in Korea, where female economics professors are extremely rare. BK21 Education Research Center plans to continue to provide such opportunities for female economists to network and exchange information.
